KSL Studio 5, spa trends & showing some skin

KSL Studio 5

Well, it finally happened. I was finally asked to be a guest on KSL’s Studio 5 morning show. No, I wasn’t a fashion expert like my friend Allison from Petit Elefant, who appeared on Studio 5 in December, or a blogging pro like my friend Vanessa from I Never Grew Up and MomsMakeMoneyBlogging.com, who appeared on the show two days ago. I was not there as an expert in anything unless you count my mad “lying completely still while someone gives you a facial” skills.

Yes, I experienced my 15 seconds of fame while lying on my good friend Kari Romney’s massage table sans makeup and with the cutest scrunchy velour headband wrapped tightly around my head. (I have no doubt that headband and the resulting slicked-back hairstyle I sported later will become the latest fashion trend for 2010.) It was for Kari’s Spa Trends segment on the show and I couldn’t have been happier to participate.

You may think getting all dressed up, sporting perfect makeup and meeting the hosts of Studio 5 is how five minutes of fame is done but I’m here to say it’s not. I’ll take a half hour of pampering complete with a mini HydraFacial and hydrating mask and 15 seconds on camera with no makeup and super cool hair over 15 minutes as an expert interviewee any day!

I’m sure by now you’re super anxious to see me in action and because I like giving my readers what they want and more, I have two videos documenting my fabulous guest appearance on Studio 5. The first is the actual video pulled from Studio 5′s site. (By the way, you’ll want to click here for a recap on the segment since I know you didn’t take notes.)

This second video was taken by me using a Flip camera. (I took it just in case they didn’t offer it online later.) Why watch this poorer quality video—and one in which I didn’t think to turn up the TV’s volume so you could actually hear it? Because true to this site’s theme, you’ll hear Livi in the background asking me to help her with her “yiptick” (lipstick) and me shushing her…which never really worked. It’s only a couple minutes long but worth the watch. (Note: “yiptick top” = “lipstick top”; “mo toes” = “more toast”; and I have no idea if she wants to “play cars” or “play cards” at the end. Still a mystery.) Oh, and you’ll get a quick glimpse of my hot pink workout tee when the screen goes blank and there’s my super nifty reflection on the TV. You can’t deny I have mad videography skills too! Note: I won’t take it personally if you don’t watch the whole thing. Livi’s jabbering is cute but perhaps not 2 minutes and 19 seconds cute…

I couldn’t resist including this little clip of Livi post Studio 5 filming in all her “yiptick” glory:

I couldn’t end this post without telling you how much I totally ADORE Kari. She is a longtime personal friend of mine and I have always been amazed and impressed with everything she does. She has years and years of experience and a natural ability to uncover a woman’s beauty—and make you believe you’re as beautiful as she sees you. You can’t help but love her, and you can’t help but love your skin once she’s done with it. She is a Master Esthetician, you know. You can read more about her and her services on her site at KariRomney.com.

P.S. Did you catch that part about booking time to rest and rejuvenate after a treatment? I am ALL over that!

P.P.S. Gotta love stock video! Did you see my friend Janet Thaeler (aka NewspaperGirl) on her laptop during the “booking online” segment? Doubt that was newly filmed footage since I believe I saw the same segment when Vanessa was on Studio 5 Tuesday talking about blogging!

Seriously, you have some very sexy nostrils. Rawwr!

Thanks so much for inviting me tonight. I had a blast. I am eating all 4 cookies by myself. The trainer would be proud.

Why, thank you, Kristina. I am rather proud of them. Perhaps I should have them insured?

We LOVED having you join us tonight! Perhaps you need to become a permanent “alternate” Sassy. As long as you don’t pull any unused muscles while eating those cookies I think you’re well on your way to a much healthier lifestyle.

Everyone has their start somewhere, right? Even if it’s not for blogging purposes, it’s still a compliment to be asked to help because of your gorgeous skin! You look great!

Looking fantabulous as usual! Not many of us could say that we were chosen for our make up less face!

OK I guess that was a bad time to take two weeks of blogging. I missed the debut of you new website:( BTW it looks great! I love the title and it’s meaning. I have days just like that. Congrats on your TV debut too. The video with Livvy’s comments in the background and the “follow up” video are priceless!
