Single comments (put a face on it…with Gravatar)
A big thank you to everyone who has left comments on my recent posts here on my new site. I can feel the love for sure! What I can’t feel is a connection with the John Doe (or Plain Jane) avatars attached to each comment. Aside from Vanessa I rarely get a glimpse of your beautiful faces, and isn’t life so much better when you can put a face to a name?
If you’re cool with that sort of ghostly silhouette thingy, then by all means stick with it. But if you’re feeling like your avatar is lacking, then head over to Gravatar.com and register for a free account. This “globally recognizable avatar” is super easy to set up. You register an email, upload a photo, associate it with that email (or multiple emails in my case) and voila! You exist!
The latest version of WordPress has the Gravatar function built in, but I believe you can download a tool or widget to use on your blog or site if you’d like. I think seeing a “real” image, even if it’s more artistic than headshot, somehow makes your comments feel less virtual.
Go, go, gadget Gravatar!
P.S. If you want to test it out once you’ve registered, leave a comment on this post answering the following question: “True or False: I am old enough to remember the show Inspector Gadget.” (The answer is “True” for me!)

Are you kidding? That’s where I learned the word “exterminated”!
P.S. thanks for sharing this info – I’ve always wondered how Vanessa and you were able to put your pics by your comments!
I just signed up – let’s see if it works…

Seeing if this actually works. =) I knew that there was a way, but I’m REALLY lazy.
