Mindy Gledhill: Talented. Beautiful. Inspiring. The end.

Um, not really. Though talented, beautiful and inspiring are perfect words for Mindy Gledhill, an indie singer-songwriter and mother of two, you could also easily use adorable,well-spoken, creative, kind, grounded—I could go on and on and it would all be sincere.

Mindy Gledhill

I’ve met Mindy in person twice. The first time was an all-too-brief “hello” during a StartupPrincess retreat, yet even in that short time I was drawn to her. I’ll admit, it was in part due to her being a local celebrity, but more than that I could tell she was genuine…and I like genuine people.

The second time I met Mindy it was at the mocktail party during the Casual Blogger Conference. She had tweeted about needing some help with one of her songs and Brandie (@rudyrukus) and I jumped at the chance. Mindy was super sweet, and though I was all twitterpated about being on stage with her, she made Brandie and me feel right at home. (I have a feeling she’s pretty good at setting anyone and everyone at ease.)

There’s something about Mindy that makes you want to hover in her presence as long as possible. (I just try not to hover so long it gets creepy.)

Okay, enough about Mindy (unless you want to hear more about Mindy…if so, check out her feature on Make It Work Mom this week). Let’s talk about Anchor, her new CD.

Mindy Gledhill Anchor

Except for a stint watching the Food Network while putting together goody bags for Saturday’s Cupcake Conference and sleeping, I’ve been listening to this CD. Of course “I Do Adore” (track 10) is one of my faves because it was the song that gave me my 2 1/2 minutes of fame at CBC, but every single song on this CD is awesome.

Can you say that about the CDs currently in your collection? I doubt it.

From the mellow sounds of “California” (kind of makes me want to get in the car and drive) to the hope-filled lyrics of “Whole Wide World,” Anchor will have you hooked…and I’m okay with the addiction. “All the Pennies” gets me singing along every time the chorus comes along, and “Circus Girl” reminds me of my favorite female-voiced indie hits from my high school days.

And of course there’s “All About Your Heart.” I first heard this song in Stephanie Nielson’s (Nie Nie) “My New Life” Mormon Messages video. It tugs at the heartstrings in the video and does the same via iTunes late at night. Beautiful. Inspiring (and inspired). Simply put: perfect. Knowing the story makes it that much more powerful.

I love, love, LOVE this CD. The end.

Um, not really. You can listen to sample tracks from Mindy Gledhill’s new CD on her blog. Even better, listen to Mindy live at her release concert for Anchor:

Gledhill Release Concert

My girls and I will be there just in case, you know, she needs some backup dancers this time.

P.S. You’ll be able to purchase Anchor at Mindy’s release concert. (Trust me, it’s worth the drive.) Plus, you can count it as your family night for the week—or in my case, the month.

P.P.S. “Mi Ancla” is a bonus track on the CD. You’ll love it.

I received a pre-release copy of Mindy’s CD for this review. But even if I hadn’t I would still rave about Mindy and her music. How can you not? Oh, and I had her release party on the calendar before I received the CD, so there!

    CD NOW in stores!! ;D

Well, I will add my testimonial to the AWESOMENESS that IS Mindy Gledhill… who only sings the soundtrack to my LIFE!! ;p ANYWAY, I DIDN’T receive this in advance (you LUCKY GIRL!!) and I had the concert release date on my calendar as soon as I found out about it! (Hmmm… probably CBC…) I did have her streaming on OUR STAGE with thop most popualr songslong before the whole album was posted on her blog… THEN of course I HAD to switch to THAT. ;D The person that was going with me fell through; so I EVEN drove from Syracuse to Provo and attended ALONE! THAT’S just how worth it SHE is! FRONT ROW, baby! (Got some GREAT pics! Down to earth, talented beyond belief, adorable… YES! Truly GENUINE!! Concert was GREAT! She knew who I was! ??? I got up to her to get a picture and she asked if I was Holly!! WHOA! LOL!! She must actually read and pay attention to those that correspond with her via fb and her blog! How COOL is that??

You were such a GREAT back up dancer/slapper at CBC. Just sayin’!! I DID see you at Mindy’s concert. Albeit at a distance afterwards. I believe I got a picture of the top of your head!! HAH!! You were talking to her and I couldn’t even get close at that moment. I’m not much of a pusher/shover… OK, just call me slightly backwards… I can take it… *sigh*

Holly, I wish you would have introduced yourself! You sound like a true fan–why weren’t you up there instead of Big Tom? ;) That is dedication to drive that far and fly solo. You go, girl! And I’m not much of a pusher/shover either. My daughter happened to find her first!
