Mad Libs Monday: “Love Letter” by Natalie Holbrook of Nat the Fat Rat
(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Joanie Atwater from Keeping Up With M.O.M.. You’ll love her “Pool Rules” Mad Libs. So fun!)
Today’s “Love Letter” post comes to us courtesy of Natalie Holbrook from Nat the Fat Rat and is from the Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Libs book.
I can’t remember when I first read Nat the Fat Rat, but I fell in love with the posts—and Natalie—immediately. Could be her love of Target or the way she recounts stories…whatever it is, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s fallen under her charm (other than The Holbs of course). I finally met Natalie in person late one night at Smashburger and she was just as lovable in person, though I was slightly intimidated because, well, she is a famous blogger AND the most adorable thing ever. Oh, and she always wears the most fabulous shoes. After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Natalie. Enjoy!
LOVE LETTER
by Natalie from Nat the Fat Rat
…
Yes, this really is Natalie’s life…
Name and/or nickname: Nat The Fat Rat, but you can call me Natalie
Blog(s) and/or website(s): Nat the Fat Rat and Nat Nests
Where you grew up: In the desert
Favorite childhood game: I used to spend hours pretending I was a famous actress. I would write all my own parts and act them out in the living room for my stuffed animals.
Super cool mom/spouse moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): I do think it’s pretty cool of me that I’m letting my husband pursue his third graduate degree. I ask myself all the time, “How many graduate degrees could one really need?” and I think the answer is probably zero, but I don’t tell my husband that. At least, not very often. I’m just super cool like that. (I will also be way cool when I’m schlepping my new baby and the groceries up four flights of stairs to our 400-square-foot studio apartment in Manhattan, but by way cool I think I might mean super sweaty, instead.)
Totally uncool mom/spouse moment (if you’re willing to share): Probably when I passed a kidney stone and passed out at the Anthropologie last month. (Pregnancy kidney stones apparently run in my family, and aren’t you super jealous?)
Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): Diet Coke, from a fountain. For breakfast.
Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): Shopping. (Especially guilt inducing when your husband is a perpetual student and there is no real income. Did I already mention that, though?)
If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? Gwyneth Paltrow. Is that weird? But hear me out! Being stranded in the Caribbean with her would give me just enough time to pick her brain, and maybe get her to teach me how to fix my hair. Don’t you think? Think of the yoga!
Happy Monday!

She is totally adorable. I’m sad I wasn’t able to hook up with her at Rumbi last week, as I don’t really know her. :(

She really is a cutie (only based on her blog and this feature. She’ll remain an apparition to me since I haven’t been able to meet her in real life) and would be fun to hang out with.
But, I’d need to bring a dictionary since she uses big words – like “pontificate”, “ameliorate”, and “window”.

Natalie is so adorable and hilarious! Loved this feature!!!

Natalie is a doll able! And I have to agree, not only letting but supporting your spouse whilst they attain multiple graduate degrees. Thanks for highlighting her loveliness! : )

erm. “is awesome and amazing.” would be the end of that sentence I just left hanging there. I’m a ditz, what can I say?! : )

Rose, that was one of my favorite parts too!
Kristina, you will definitely have to meet her in person. She’s awesome!
Camille, can I share your dictionary?
Quinn, thanks (as always)!
Carrie Marie, I’m not sure I could be as supportive as Natalie. She’s an inspiration! (And I’m okay with a little ditziness…in fact, I’m a ditz 78% of the time.)

I thought she was adorable at CBC, too! LOVE this post and the pic of her with her furry friend!! ;D WOW!! That’s a LOT of education for one man! LOL!! That means they should be eligible to earn half a million starting pay when he finally gets uses all those degrees for one job… Right? LOL!! I REALLY wish it worked that way. That is WAY cool to have the patience… Looks like some cool opportunities, too! ((HUGS))

Love Nat!!!

It must be all those books Nat reads that makes her use big words. Hence why I don’t.
Fun as always!
