Mad Libs Monday: “Bringing Home the Good…or Is It Bad?…News” by Daria Muirhead of Boutique Cafe

(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Carina from The Jet Set. You’ll love her “Coffeehouses” Mad Libs!)

Today’s “Bringing Home the Good…or Is It Bad?…News” post comes to us courtesy of Daria Muirhead and is from the Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Libs book.

Daria and I go way back, though she goes further back with my husband (that story another day). When asked four years ago if I would write product reviews for Boutique Cafe, her fab new site, I jumped at the chance and have been writing away ever since. I don’t get to see Daria nearly enough (dang that whole living in a different country thing) but I hope to see her, her sweet Baby Lola and all those crazy boys in October. She is one of the loveliest, most genuine women I know and I absolutely love her!

After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Daria. Enjoy!

Mad Libs

Yes, this really is Daria’s life…

Name and/or nickname: Daria Muirhead, Dee, Darebear to a select few in my family

Blog(s) and/or website(s): Boutique Cafe & Daria’s Life

Where you grew up: Calgary, Alberta, Canada—yes, that’s the Great White North!

Favorite childhood game: Lip syncing to the Air Supply album or playing Battlestar Gallactica with my best friend Joanna.

Super cool mom moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): Whenever I drop my 9-year-old and 8-year-old boys off at school they still give me the biggest hugs, a thumbs up, and will shout, “Love you Mom, you’re beautiful, have a great day!” I can’t believe it happens and that they are secure enough to do it. I honestly feel like the luckiest mom in the world that they are “man enough” to show a tender side too.

Totally uncool mom moment (if you’re willing to share): Putting off my son’s birthday celebration for two months! I still feel horrible about that, and honestly if he ever wants something in life all he need do is bring it up and I’m sure I’ll quickly whip out the credit card to ease my conscience.

Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): Pepsi Lime, chocolate in any form, Old Dutch Salt and Vinegar Chips….I could go on.

Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): Shhh! Don’t tell anyone because it sounds so snobby when you say it out loud. Weekly appointments to have my hair blown dry and styled. It works wonders and saves me so much time. I have crazy thick hair so to style it at home takes hours. I now pamper myself with this little weekly treat and it makes me able to get up and go for days. I also get to visit with my sweet friend Cheryl and dish about The Bachelor, another indulgence. You only asked for one, but you got a bonus indulgence from me.

If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? That’s so easy. I pick Emily (yes, she’s famous, just read her bio)! We rarely—and I mean rarely—get to see each other and I can only imagine the laughter that would ensue as we were stranded on an island trying to make a fire together with a pair of high heels, a few bars of chocolate and talk of our husbands to sustain us. Sign me up, Emily! {And this is why I love my Daria.}

Happy Monday!

I love that she gets her hair blown out and styled. If I didn’t have such oily hair, where I have to wash everyday, I would totally do that.

Thank you so much for the fun feature! I am so honoured to be on your blog, and you know that I adore you too. I’ve never played MAD LIBS before, but it’s taking all my strength not to ask for a “redo” – ROTFL!!

Off to indulge in something chocolatey! XOXO

I love Daria to pieces, even though we’re technically just “online friends,” but if she’s coming in October, do you think you could share her for a bit so I can adore her in “real life,” too? *wink*. SUCH a fabulous feature, Em!!!
