Mad Libs Monday: “Cultural Stuff” by Rachael Herrscher of Today’s Mama

2010 November 8
by Emily

(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Jen from Tatertots & Jello. You’ll love her “A Visit to the Dentist” Mad Libs!)

Today’s “Cultural Stuff” post comes to us courtesy of Rachael Herrscher and is from the Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Libs book.

I first met Rachael close to five years ago when I started georgie tees, an infant and maternity t-shirt company, with a girlfriend. Rachael—and Today’s Mama—was a wonderful resource then and is still a great resource for moms now. In fact, it’s become one of the must-visit, must-read websites for all things motherhood.

But as nifty as Today’s Mama is, Rachael is even niftier. She is an amazing woman with a contagious smile and enthusiasm. She will make you laugh, she will make you smile…and then she will make you shake your head in wonder at all she is accomplishing, even in the midst her husband’s serious accident. Rachael just might be wonder woman incarnate—but a heck of a lot much more approachable and lovable. For realsies. (How can you not love a woman who coins the phrase “for realsies”?)

After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Rachael. Enjoy!

CULTURAL STUFF

Mad Libs

Yes, this really is Rachael’s life…

Name and/or nickname: Rachael (gang name: “Ray Ray”)

Blog(s) and/or website(s): Today’s Mama

Where you grew up: Salt Lake City

Favorite childhood game: Snap! So many greats! Really I was a sucker for the classics: Connect 4, Chutes and Ladders, Clue . . . but I’m going to bring it back to Space Invaders on Atari. That game was all kinds of fun and intensity!

Super cool mom moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): When we do the dishes with Will Smith and the Beastie Boys. (Attached photo is from one such Sunday when we put on our shades and did the dishes like thugs.)

Totally uncool mom moment (if you’re willing to share): That I’m a mega nazi about TV and video games. I’m probably raising the kids who go crazy about sugar cereal when they go to their friends houses because they aren’t allowed to have sugar cereal at their own house.

Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): Ben and Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch Ice Cream

Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): I still watch Grey’s Anatomy. I know . . .

If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? Will Ferrell. His comedic genius and delivery defy description.

Happy Monday!

Why does it not surprise me Rachael is such a huge Will Ferrell fan? Can I get some more cow bell, please?

See how impressionable I am! I might even have to go watch the Anchor Man tonight because I haven’t been able to get him off my mind! :D

    She really is adorable.

I hadn’t read about her husband’s crash. That is my worst nightmare. Literally went to counseling for 3 months to deal with anxiety about something happening like that. She is an inspiration.

Now that is the way to do housework! Except, I’d rather not do it at all.
And Will Ferrell would be my daughter’s choice as well.

I’m with you, Debbie. I’d rather not lift a finger, but if I have to then I might as well do housework in style!

I had no idea you were fluent in Ganganese. Perhaps you should teach a class on that at Bloggy Boot Camp!

    Rachael Reply:

OK – so I have never heard it termed “Ganganese” – that has got to be awesome! I have called it “Suburban Thug” but I think I like Ganganese the best! Word up!

Okay, that is one reality show I would actually sit down and watch when it’s on, no Hulu required!
