Mad Libs Monday: “Look It Up” by Debbie of Suburb Sanity

2010 November 29

(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Casey from Moosh in Indy. You’ll love her “How to Introduce Your Boyfriend” Mad Libs!)

Today’s “Look It Up” post comes to us courtesy of Debbie and is from the Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Libs book.

Suburb Sanity

I can’t remember when I first stumbled upon Suburb Sanity, but my life is definitely richer—and filled with a lot more laughter—because of it. Debbie, who has a bit more experience than I do when it comes to parenting, writes the most random, craziest, smile-inducing, often laugh-out-loud posts out there. I love her perspective on everything from Turducken (I still can’t believe she hadn’t heard of it before) and other new additions to the dictionary to the state of our kids today. When I grow up I want to be as funny as she is. And maybe even as southern. Seriously.

After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Debbie (and a personal photo that proves this gal has a great sense of humor). Love her! Enjoy!

Name and/or nickname: Debbie

Blog(s) and/or website(s): Suburb Sanity & Suburb Sanity Reviews and Giveaways

Where you grew up: East Tennessee

Favorite childhood game: All games. I am a game loving fool. If it can be played with cards or on a board (or these days even with a controller in my hand), I am all about doing it. As I child, I particularly liked Clue. And card games.

Super cool mom moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): I’ve only been a mom for almost 20 years. I’m still waiting…

Totally uncool mom moment (if you’re willing to share): How about one of those millions of times I’ve yelled or lost my temper. Or, how about last week when my youngest said he might ask for socks for Christmas (this was a direct result of the fact that I had not done laundry in forever and the child was sockless).

Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): Iced tea. I know – boring. But, I am a southerner through and through. I do love some white wine and also cheesecake and I have a well-documented obsession with Doritos. But, I don’t keep these things around much so I can’t go to them!

Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): Food Network and HGTV. Mostly because there isn’t ever anything else on. Never had a pedi!!! And chick lit isn’t my thing.

If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? Orlando Bloom. Why? Why not? I could just look at him and remember why there is always a silver lining to every cloud. Stranded? Who would care? Hey, Orlando. Did you bring any Doritos?

Happy Monday!

Wait, why did she steal a picture of me to use? Love Debbie. She has the snark and humor I love.

I was wondering the same thing! I figured you’d given her permission to use it, so I didn’t worry too much about it. And I love her snark and humor as well. Hoping it will rub off on me!

She is so funny and brilliant. And modest.
I had a feeling she was also gorgeous but I really didn’t know how beautiful until now.

On a serious side, this is great fun! Thanks for letting me play.

I’m a huge Debbie groupie and LOVED this. And, I learned something new– We’re so much alike! My husband is always out of socks and I watch Food Network and HGTV all the time too.
    Cheers, jj
