Mad Libs Monday: “Are You Ready to Move in Together?” by Ashlee Prisbrey
(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Kathy Dalton from Danish Mama. You’ll love her “Does He Flirt Too Much?” Mad Libs!)
Today’s “Are You Ready to Move in Together?” post comes to us courtesy of Ashlee Prisbrey of I’m Topsy Turvy and Topsy Turvy Cakes and is from the Test Your Relationship I.Q. Mad Libs book.
Ashlee is another fabulous gal I met via Twitter before meeting her in real life. The first thing I loved about her other than her deliciously creative cakes? Her hair. How I would love to sport the gorgeous dark auburn fauxhawk as well as she does! Ashlee seems to always be smiling, always making new friends and always coming up with new creative endeavors. And she does all this while dealing with more than her share of children with Asperger’s. No wonder her life is topsy turvy! After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Ashlee. Enjoy!
ARE YOU READY TO MOVE IN TOGETHER?
by Ashlee
…
Yes, this really is Ashlee’s life…
Name and/or nickname: Ashlee Prisbrey (My mom calls me Marie, my middle name)
Blog(s) and/or website(s): I’m Topsy Turvy & Topsy Turvy Cakes
Where you grew up: I’ve moved 32 time in my life (7 states, 2 countries). The first 11 were when I was living at home with my parents before going off to college. I was born in Vancouver, WA, but the other 10 moves were in OR, mostly the Portland area.
Favorite childhood game: I have 2 younger sisters; all of my favorite memories and games revolve around dressing up, singing songs, dancing and making up our own musicals!
Super cool mom moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): I can’t think of ONE moment where my kids were blown away by my utter coolness, but one of the things I love doing WITH my kids is cooking and baking. I love to cook and bake and they love to help me. It doesn’t always make baking or cooking easy to have 8 extra hands, and it’s sometimes messy, takes 3 times as long or doesn’t taste quite right…But it’s become something we enjoy doing together. They think getting to cook/bake with me is pretty cool! Now how do I get them to think doing dishes is also as fun and cool???
Totally uncool mom moment (if you’re willing to share): Oh so so many; what mom doesn’t have moments she totally regrets? My MOST uncool moment was overreacting when my oldest (then 6, in first grade) came home from school and had chopped the front of her hair (bang area) off to about 1/4 of an inch long. RIGHT in the front, HUGE section. I totally lost it. I just couldn’t calm down and yelled until we were both crying. NOT cool. In the end it’s just hair and cutting an even larger section of hair into thick bangs covered it up. It only took 2 years to grow out to chin length and then we cut a cute bob. So not worth getting upset over an making her cry. She is my sweetest, easiest and most helpful child and also my most sensitive. I felt terrible about it. I still tend to over react to stupid stuff, but now I put myself in time out so I don’t take out my silly reactions on her.
Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): Wendy’s chocolate frosty with their new fries. It’s been my top pregnancy go-to food this time around. Of course It WOULD be Jack in the Box Ultimate Cheeseburger (if there were Jack in the Box in UT!)
Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): I have NEVER admitted this to anyone but my husband, but I LOVE reading vampire series. Name any series and I’ve read it: Ann Rice, Stephenie Meyer, Charlaine Harris (totally trashy and I totally love it!), etc… Even the totally for teen series.
If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? I’m a HUGE reader, love love LOVE books and reading. So I’d have to pick an author so I’d have someone to tell me stories. If I could pick one person dead or alive I’d go with C.S. Lewis or Jane Austen. If I had to pick someone alive I’d go with Brandon Sanderson.
Happy Monday!

Totally. My kids would love to cook with her. I’m sure she’s much nicer than I am in the kitchen!
