Mad Libs Monday: “Are You Too Demanding?” by Shelley Smith
(Our most recent guest Mad Libber was Stacy Risenmay from Not Just a Housewife. You’ll love her “Is He Mr. Right?” Mad Libs!)
Today’s “Are You Too Demanding?” post comes to us courtesy of Shelley Smith of House of Smiths and is from the Test Your Relationship I.Q. Mad Libs book.
The first time I met Shelley she was sporting a super stylish orange safety vest at the Museum of Natural History blogger tour. She was all smiles (and I’ve since learned she’s always all smiles) and I couldn’t wait for another opportunity to hang out with her. Shelley is the fabulously crafty DIYer behind House of Smiths and the mother of three adorable girls. I love her sense of humor, her genuineness and that dang infectious smile. After the story you’ll find a few interesting facts about Stacy. Enjoy!
ARE YOU TOO DEMANDING?
by Shelley
…
Yes, this really is Shelley’s life…
Name and/or nickname: Hot Baby Makin’, House Decoratin’ Momma… (mostly my hubby just calls me that)
Blog(s) and/or website(s):
House of Smiths
Where you grew up: I moved about 13 times growing up but spent most of my life in North Carolina and now live in Utah.
Favorite childhood game: My favorite childhood game… hmm… That one’s hard to explain. My dad had this game called “buckin’ bronco” that involved HIM under a huge blanket, acting like a bull on my parents’ bed while all 4 of us kids tried to “ride” on his back while he went crazy “buckin’” everywhere. LOL. It was actually pretty dangerous. There weren’t a whole lot of times that SOMEONE didn’t walk away without an injury. Ha! But we LOVED it!
Super cool mom moment (i.e., one of those moments when you were the coolest mom ever): A few days ago our 5-year-old twins and I were loading in the car after school and one of them said to me, “Oh Mom! Guess what?… There’s a girl in our class and she doesn’t even KNOW who Jennifer Lopez is! … Weird huh?” LOL LOL LOL…I about DIED! My girls have been exposed to a lot of music in their lives, between my husband and me, and for some reason … this little comment made me think, “I’m TOTALLY a cool Mom!” haha!
Totally uncool mom moment (if you’re willing to share): Ugh… I think I have more of these uncool moments than the “cool” ones, but one of my latest was when I was TRYING to be a “cool Mom” by taking a picture of all of us screaming at the top of our lungs in the car wash. Without knowing my youngest had just drifted off to sleep, and I ended up sending her into a fit of uncontrollable rage, by screaming her awake… and in the middle of a “scary car wash” no less…ugh, Mom FAIL!
Your go-to “drug” of choice (e.g., Diet Coke, chocolate, Peeps, Venti anything from Starbucks): I’m going to have to go with my new favorite treat: Schwan’s Signature Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Minis. YUMMO!
Your guilty indulgence (e.g., reality TV shows, pedis, chick lit): For sure… Reality TV shows. I love them ALL! There’s just something about watching someone else make a fool of themselves, that makes so addicting!
If you were stranded on a desert island, preferably in the Caribbean, which famous person would you want with you and why? Oh, easy. NO questions asked… Tatum Channing.
Oh… so now you probably think I want him to be there, because he’s hot, muscle-y, has amazing lips, and an irresistible jawline? pshh… no! It’s because he could lift heavy stuff, like the wood for my new “Family Robinson style” tree house that I’ll need built, while I’m there…
Oh, and also because I will want him to teach me some killer dance moves!
Happy Monday!

I’ve met Channing Tatum before and he’s soooo nice! He was genuinely glad to meet me and didn’t blow me off like you would expect a typical famous actor would! He even danced for me.. :) This was at the Zara store in the Dallas Galleria!!
