Cleaning for a Reason

2011 July 27

I’m not talking about in-laws visiting from out of town or guests coming over for your best friend’s baby shower. Nor am I talking about cleaning because the floor’s stickiness is like a death grip on your feet every time you walk across the floor. (Not that I speak from personal experience or anything.)

What I am talking about is the Cleaning for a Reason Foundation, a non-profit organization that partners with professional maid services to provide free, professional housecleaning services for women currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

Cleaning for a Reason

Last week I posted about my experience with ECOMAIDS {full post here}, a new eco-friendly cleaning service in the Salt Lake City area. Like Shelley I was impressed with their hard work and thoroughness, and the effectiveness of their plant- and water-based cleaners also made a splash.

But what really and truly won me over was Keith’s wholehearted support of the Cleaning for a Reason Foundation.

Being affiliated with the foundation means ECOMAIDS donates up to two cleanings a month. Awesome, right? The company also provides a monetary donation each month to help keep the foundation running. Think about what a wonderful gift a clean home would be for a local Utah woman going through treatment for cancer. That’s one less thing to worry about and one awesome way to simplify life just a little bit during such a crazy, stressful, life-turned-upside-down time.

If you want to help support ECOMAIDS’ efforts, you can donate to the Cleaning for a Reason Foundation in a few ways {complete donation info here}:

  • Make a recurring donation.
  • Sponsor a maid service.
  • One-time online donation.
  • “In Memory Of” donation.

I love any company with heart, and ECOMAIDS has plenty of it. Eco-friendly didn’t give me warm fuzzies until now. (Hey, I’m just being honest.)

P.S. You can still enter the ECOMAIDS giveaway for a $50 gift certificate good towards their current grand opening special!

I was talking to a good friend last night, whose sister was just diagnosed with colon cancer. I am going to pass along this link to her. With three small kids, I’m sure she could use this kind of help.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend’s sister. I hope she’s able to successfully fight her cancer and I hope ECOMAIDS will be able to help her out.

    Emily,

Thank you for making me aware of this organization. I just reposted about them on my blog. I try and enourage others to get involved in philanthropy. Thanks again for sharing and good luck!

    Emily,

Thanks for this blog post. I’m on the board of a wonderful breast cancer support group, and this sounds like a great thing for our members who are going through treatments.

Our group is called Lifting Hearts (formerly Sister Survivors), and is located in Utah County. Our blog is liftinghearts.blogspot.com. We are always looking for ways to help the women in our support group.

    Take care,

I only wish ECOMAIDS was able to donate their time to women in Utah County too! Hopefully an ECOMAIDS franchise will open there soon. :) I believe you can submit patients to the foundation by following this link: http://cleaningforareason.org/cancer_patients_accept.html. Hope that helps!
