Slow Cooker Anyday: Baked Apples
I found this recipe amidst a collection of slow cooker recipes given me by my mom from a past church get-together. I’m not sure if you’d categorize this as a side dish or dessert—you could probably categorize it as both!
I’ve never made baked apples in our out of a slow cooker so I have a few questions for you seasoned apple bakers:
- How do you serve baked apples? Hot, fresh from the crock pot or pureed into applesauce and served cold?
- Could you top the warm baked apples with a little homemade whipping cream or vanilla bean ice cream and serve as a desert?
- Is there a particular type of apple that works best in a recipe like this one?
I’d love to know what you think, whether you speak from experience or are simply throwing out your best guess!
