My very first flash mob
A couple weekends ago I attended EVO Conference in Park City, Utah. Gotta love a social media-slash-blogging conference in your very own backyard! I attended EVO’11 and couldn’t wait to spend another weekend cramming my brain full of newfound knowledge and my life full of newfound friends.
EVO’12 did not disappoint.
But the true highlight of the conference was not the large amounts of Diet Coke in our suite at The Canyons nor enjoying late-night, slightly raunchy conversations with my fabulous roommates Steph, Brinda, Kim and Lindsey.
Finally meeting Stephanie (aka @QueenScarlett and a Twitter friend since forever) was at the top of the list for sure…
…as was enjoying the company of these two adorable women (Barbara of Barbara Bakes and Carrian of Oh Sweet Basil).
Spending an evening eating local cheese and berries by glowstick-light with Diance Cu and Todd Porter of White on Rice Couple was pretty amazing and surreal and awesome all at the same time.
And the keynotes by Derreck Kayango (Global Soap Project) and Devi Thomas (UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign) were unforgettable and inspiring, it’s true.
But when it comes right down to it, my favorite part of EVO this year was putting a big check mark next to “participate in a flash mob” thanks to my dear friend and dancer extraordinaire, Jenny Eckton.
…
…
Jenny choreographed, videoed, videoed again and then videoed a few more times—once in front of a ginormous mirror after her ZUMBA class—just so we could get the moves down before EVO.
I practiced in my office, my parents’ office and my parents’ guest bedroom between two twin beds with about a half foot between them.
If “Glad You Came” by The Wanted came on the radio, I even practiced while driving. (Don’t worry, I toned down the moves a bit in the car.)
The effort and sweat and rug burns on the bottom of my feet were totally worth it. We had so. much. fun.
…
…
I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Thank you, Jenny.
P.S. Feel free to “like” is this REALLY my life? on Facebook. It won’t earn you an extra entry in any giveaway but it will give you warm fuzzies. Even better.
P.P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for free is this REALLY my life? updates via RSS or email.

I just can’t get over how awesome the flash mob was (I accidentally typed flash mom, which was partially true too!). This conference is always SO amazing and this year I made some really good connections. I want to get involved with the Shot@life, the Global Soap Project and the Protectors (anti-bullying) campaigns as well. I love that we actually KNOW people who are doing such awesome things.
