Salt Lake’s very own Blickenstaff’s
I fell in love with Blickenstaff’s “Fun for Everyone” toy and candy store when I visited it with the gals from SassyScoops. The only thing I didn’t like was how far of a drive it was from Sandy. Now that The Gateway boasts its own Blickenstaff’s, I could be in trouble.
Apparently my kids have fallen in love with it too.
Can you blame them? Blickenstaff’s is a kid’s dream with plenty of toys to test drive—literally and figuratively. We’re talking cool foam that acted like playdough, elephant puppets with moving trunks and super awesome Nerf-style bow and arrow sets.
It’s also a parent’s dream with toys reminiscent of their childhood: classic toy airplanes, model ships and yes, even Smurfs.
Let’s not leave out the impressive selection of bulk and vintage candy.
By the way, you might need one of these babies to carry your haul to the register.
What I love most about Blickenstaff’s is the unique selection of toys. Sure, the candy is great (who doesn’t love a ginormous Charleston Chew candy bar?), but the wide variety of new and vintage toys is even better. We found everything from Hexbugs to dress-up clothes to old-school board games. Every one of my kids left the store with a serious wish list.
I’m in trouble.
You’ll find Blickenstaff’s at the north end of The Gateway next to the fountains. Think of it as the perfect bribe for kids who feel they’ve already spent enough time in Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. It’s amazing how well it works!

Normally I’d prefer to leave the kids at home, but if you have to go downtown with them, it is a fun little stop. :)
